Meet Akimera:
Your Coach to Holistic Wellbeing
Greetings and welcome to Global Wellbeing Company!
I'm Akimera, your dedicated Wellbeing Coach and guide on this journey whether your going through a difficult time or want to expand into the best version of yourself.
Approach to Wellbeing:
My practice is built on a trauma-informed, heart-centered, and non-judgmental foundation. Trust, respect, and safety form the core of my interactions with clients. I firmly believe that each individual holds the keys to their healing; sometimes, we just need a helping hand to find and unlock our inner potential.
I am a Wellbeing Coach specialising in the integration of trauma, self-limiting beliefs and patterns and stress from a trauma-informed heart-centred, non-judgemental approach where trust, respect and safety are central. My aim is to guide you in transformative and empowering holistic wellbeing so you can access unbound energy and insight in all areas of your life. I firmly believe that each individual holds the keys to their greatness; sometimes, we just need a helping hand to find and unlock our inner potential.
Based in Australia and having worked in wellbeing for almost 15 years my work is designed to help you build self-awareness, uncover root causes and create deep lasting healing so you can thrive when stepping into the unknown parts of your greatest self and navigating the challenges of a changing world with a sense of clarity and calm.
I am a Level 2 EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Tapping Practitioner, with an Expert Coach accreditation, Trauma Informed Certification, Kemetic Yoga Teacher training, Bachelors in Health Science and Masters in Development Studies, and draw on a myriad of expertise, embodied lived and professional experience and an innate passion and drive about wellbeing to provide the highest level, multifaceted experience for my clients. My mission is to support purpose driven individuals to re-alignment with their soul by unlearning and deconditioning from limiting emotional, psychological and generational patterns so they can bring their uniqueness in service to themselves and the world.
Roots and Acknowledgments:
I am Akimera, a London-born, mixed-ethnicity, queer, Black woman with a rich tapestry of heritage. I pay my deepest respect to the Wurundjeri people, custodians of the land where I now reside, commonly known as Melbourne, Australia, and acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi/Kabbi Kabbi people, on whose stolen land I grew up, commonly known as the Sunshine Coast, Australia, which held my growth and created a sense of connection to country in those years for me. My roots include Afro-Caribbean survivors of the transatlantic slave trade, Jewish survivors of the Holocaust in Paris, and a lineage traced back to royal Swiss family.
Why Share My Story?
Vulnerability is a pathway to inner peace. I believe in embracing every facet of ourselves, no matter how uncomfortable, as a crucial step towards finding harmony within.
A Lineage of Healing:
My journey into health and wellbeing is woven into the fabric of my lineage. From a child psychologist and activist grandmother to a deeply intuitive and wise healer mother, and a lifelong human rights activist and musician father, I come from a line of disruptors, healers, and resilient souls.
Professional Journey
Over 13 years ago, my commitment to fostering wellbeing took root in the realm of community arts and development. In diverse settings — from prisons and detention centers to community hubs and schools — I initiated programs that utilized the transformative power of arts for the betterment of individuals and communities.
This early chapter laid the foundation for my dedication to community wellbeing. Guided by the belief that creativity and self-expression are potent catalysts for change, I facilitated programs that allowed participants to discover their inner voices, share their stories, and find healing through the arts.
In 2014, I fortified my commitment by earning a Bachelor's degree in health science, specializing in paramedics. However, my heart remained aligned with community work. Even after obtaining my degree, I chose to persist in the field, recognising that my energy was best invested in the grassroots initiatives that were making a tangible impact on the lives of those I served.
Determined to deepen my understanding of global health and development, I pursued and achieved a Master's degree in International Development. This academic journey equipped me with a broader perspective on the interconnectedness of communities and the importance of holistic approaches to wellbeing.
Throughout these academic pursuits, I remained actively engaged in person-centred community wellbeing. The synergy between theory and practice enriched my approach, allowing me to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world, human-centred solutions.
EFT Tapping as Empowerment:
Throughout this journey, around 2013, I discovered the profound impact of EFT Tapping on personal growth and development and continued to utilise it for myself over the following decade. Gaining certifification in this empowering technique, and a Life Coaching certification I found my purpose — using my life experience, knowledge, abilities, and skills to facilitate positive change and healing in others.
Today, as a practitioner with a diverse professional background, I bring a unique blend of knowledge and experience to the realm of holistic wellbeing. My journey is not just a series of professional and academic milestones but a testament to the unwavering belief in the power of conscious healing, connection, and the human spirit.
